Pennsylvania Doldrums.

I have been very lazy in my blogging duties lately. Too much/not enough going on. I have been busy working on my end of the new website, dealing with some staffing changes, and spending time out at SFG's family's Bucks County place simply regouping....isn't it pretty?

Who the hell wants to work/blog/deal with life when you can have surf and turf and a glass of Sav Blanc on the patio instead? I mean really.

What to report? Well, I am HATING the United States Postal Service right now for completely fucking me over on a very important shipment of 25 pounds of brownies and other delicious treats for a wedding in Glasgow this weekend. Never mind the details, it's not even worth discussing. I am so furious I could spit. USPS has been drastically lowered in my Big Universal Book of Universally Rated Things in the Universe.

I am boring. Hear me yawn.

Three Sheets to the Whinge.

Top Reasons Why I Am Utterly Exhausted.

1. On Sunday I biked 26 miles to and fro Mount Airy.

2. I haven't slept through the night in weeks.

3. I am on the rag and am subsisting on a diet of Pamprin and diet Red Bull.

4. I took an Ambien last night and apparently got up in the middle of the night, took Molly out of her bedroom, put her in the closet in our bedroom, was convinced she peed and then stuck her under the faucet at 2 am. I only vaguely remember walking to the closet and thinking she peed.

...as long as I can survive until Monday, when we will take a 36 hour vacay to SFG's family's house in Bucks County. No tv (!), no Internets (!), but a grill, a clawfoot tub, a sauna, and lots of quietude in which to write the copy for the new website. The work never ever stops.

Why I Am in a Good Mood Today.

1. I'm finally having the Canary website revamped. Time for an overhaul big time. Truth be told, I was never super thrilled with the site to begin with, but the sucker was cheap and necessary so it served its purpose. This new website is gonna be a winner! And it will include a shop, a blog, and...

2. I had my pin-up consultation today! It was so much fun! We talked about my theme (baking, duh) and I got to try on red bras, red high heeled shoes and cute polka dot dresses and aprons! And, even better, we're going to do some appropriate shots that will incorporate me and Canary cupcakes for the new aforementioned website! How perfect is that?

3. I was looking over my Quickbooks stats, and this quarter I made 25% more than 2nd quarter 2007. That's progress.

4. Lara and Rob are coming over to our place on Saturday to celebrate Bastille Day. French-only theme, obviously. Wine, cheese, baguettes and the like. French beer is ok too, SFG. Good luck with that. It must have been seriously on my brain because the other night I had a dream I had a drawer-ful of blue and white hortizontally striped shirts. I'm not kidding.

5. Oh yeah, I am now Officially Divorced, er Officially Single/In A Relationship again. The paperwork is complete, signed, sealed, and delivered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. C'est fini.

Am I Being Overly Sensitive Here?

To The Lady Who Was Changing Her Baby's Diaper in the Window of The Artful Dodger on Thursday Night....

Dear Lady,

Please remember that not everyone else doesn't think your baby's poop is disgusting and shouldn't be prominently displayed in the picture window of an eating establishment. Can't you just let the baby sit in it for ten minutes while you get the check? I don't mean to be cruel here, but if you're just going to bend for little Henry/Lola without sparing a moment forsaking the gastronomic stability of those around you, I mean, really. Not a good precedent. You are creating a monster.

Just wanted to let you know.

Kvetch of the Day: Marital Status Questions.

Whenever I fill out a questionnaire that asks my marital status I get peeved.

Why should "divorced' be an option? 'Divorced' is not a state of being. One gets a divorce, one is going through a divorce, and yes, in certain contexts (e.g. gossip), one is divorced. However, for the sake of classification on a marketing questionnaire, I don't think it's relevant. I am 'single' or 'in a relationship'. I have been divorced.

What's next? Branding us with 'D's on our foreheads? A scarlet 'D' stitched to our shirtsleeves? Well, I never.

I had a very productive day on Facebook today. I reconnected with a high school boyfriend (who has twins now and seems to have grown up waaaay to much for my taste) and my freshman year college roommate at Sarah Lawrence. I think if she didn't live on the other side of the country we'd be friends.
